The topics presented and discussed were:
Website development will be revisited at the December meeting. There were questions posed that those in attendance were not able to answer.
Nominations of EAA officers for the upcoming Jan-Dec 2012 term were discussed by the group. Following a motion by Linda Wilson and seconded by Mary Ann Hinshelwood, and unanimous passage by the group, the nominations for EAA officers were collected and the candidates will be contacted to determine their willingness to serve.
Chair and Vice-chair nominees will be contacted by Hinshelwood.
Accounting treasurer/Membership steward nominee will be contacted by Wilson.
Gallery Director nominee will be contacted by Jackson.
Secretary pro – tem position will require a volunteer to take and transcribe minutes at each meeting.
Relf has a list of current EAA members having paid dues for 2011. Liddle will forward this list to Hinshelwood.
Gallery and Exhibits a priority: Due to the small number of active EAA members available to accomplish the number of proposed EAA projects, the group decided that the primary focus for the EAA for the coming year would be the Gallery exhibits and artist receptions. The George Gray Gallery and the exhibits continue to be well received by the community and have become the public face of the EAA.
The 2011 December Holiday Market will be conducted by the YMCA.
EAA Members Book is being compiled by Liddle. EAA members on the 2011 roster will receive an email from Liddle asking if they are interested in having a profile and/or photo included. The book will be a part of the Gray Gallery helping to introduce the public to the organization. It will include the EAA history, an overview of the George Gray Gallery inception, individual photos and profiles of members, both in the artists and friends’ category, electing to participate. The proposed deadline is January 2012.
Linda Bostic Smith is participating in the art exhibit currently open at the Montgomery Museum & Lewis Miller Regional Art Gallery in Christiansburg, VA. The museum is sponsoring a day trip to Abingdon, VA on Nov. 16 to tour the newly opened Heartwood Gallery, as well as, other galleries in the area. Information can be obtained through the LM Museum.
The next EAA meeting will be December 6, 2011 at 7pm.
Having no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:10pm.
